Virtual Bowling Green

Bowling Green serves as a regional medical, service, retail, business, and entertainment hub for an eight-to-twelve county region with a population of approximately 250,000. The area is served by Interstate 65, William Natcher Parkway, Cumberland Parkway, and several U.S. Highways that intersect in the Bowling Green area. Bowling Green and Warren County are home to approximately 10 manufacturing operations, both large and small. Twenty-two percent of the workforce of 49,700 is in manufacturing. There are 62 automotive and truck assembly plants that lie within next day delivery of Bowling Green, Kentucky(Refer Figure Below).

Bowling Green is home to thirteen corporate offices and several regional administrative operations including four major Japanese companies and a Swedish company. One of the corporate offices is the North American headquarters for Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems, Inc.

The Bowling Green area has sustained good growth over the past eight years. This growth has expanded the diversified industrial base, retail, and professional services for the area population. The next logical and progressive step will be to create business and international education programs to foster more international business. This step will include a multi-faceted economic development strategy that will continue to recruit manufacturing, but will give priority efforts to expanding distribution operations, corporate and regional administrative offices, telecommunications centers and services industries.

Western Kentucky University serves as an incubator and planner in these efforts as an educator and cultural resource.Information about Area attractions and restaurants may be accessed at: http://BowlingGreen.Ky.net/tourism
